Putu Kusuma
Founder of Clean Ecology
Hey everyone! Putu here. I’m a family man who learned about running a small business because I had to. Like so many other people who have faced hardships in securing a job fresh out of university, I was forced to adapt—and quickly—to support myself and my family. Today, I’m deep into my Plan B career.

I went to University of Adelaide to study a bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences and then University of South Australia for a master’s degree in Urban and Regional Planning. During my study, I maintained a High Distinction average. I also had the opportunity to intern at an esteemed not-for-profit organisation in Adelaide and to present research findings at an international workshop on urban planning in Vietnam. I was sure that my career was already laid out for me and all I needed to do was to embrace it with open arms. I had no plans to stray from the discipline I was trained in—but there are some parts of life we can’t control.
The reality of getting a job as a fresh graduate hit me hard. I watched with deep sadness the life I have always dreamed about slowly faded away right before my eyes. However, as the old saying goes; 'There's a silver lining in every cloud'. My experience opened my eyes to the amazing world of entrepreneurship, and since then I’ve built three micro businesses, helping people increasing their productivity and giving them the time to focus on what matters in life.
I didn’t go to business school, and I don’t have Gary Vee’s magical charisma. I am, however, a person who understands that building a successful business is about serving others first, and then having the boldness to serve them in a way others overlooked, doubted, or dismissed. My goals in life are NOT to buy a private jet, drive an expensive sports car, or own a mansion filled with maids and servants.

Instead, I want to inspire everyone around me and elevate them to within reach of the life they have always dreamed.
